This new remix started off with no intention of being a remix but while working on the beat Mr Fantastic realised that it was 90 bpm - exactly the same as Ready For Combat from the 6 Before breakfast EP. To hear how Coherent's voice sounded on the beat with the aim of possibly sending it for him to write to, Mr F synced it up and found that the groove fitted Coherent's flow perfectly. This seemed too perfect to not be used as a remix. A rough mix was played to Coherent and he loved it, stating that he preferred it to the original version - primarily due to the choice of drum sample which sits perfectly with the vocal. It was then arranged to fit with Ready For Combat's structure and was then sent to have the vocal from the original Pro Tools session synced up and mixed to the new beat and mastered by Rola at Khameleon Sounds.

The drums were sampled from Simon Allen's brilliant 'Simon Plays' library album - a must for samplers and anyone who digs drum library albums, used by extremely kind permission of Simon Allen and King Underground Records. The artwork uses an original illustration by Stilts taken from unused but great ideas for the original 6 Before Breakfast EP sleeve. We adjusted the image to suit and added text for the finishing touch. As with the EP artwork, all of the protagonists weapons are Hip Hop related - boomboxes, cassettes, etc... even the guns shoot cans of spray paint and not bullets! The military imagery and references are used metaphorically - our enemies are mumble rappers and wack DJ's - a concept rooted in the history of Hip Hop's sporting rivalry. S.O.E oppose war, corruption and the deceitful politicians that send young men off to kill each other, hence Coherent's line "man kills man 'cause the man stood with politicians....".

We are giving this one away as a free download as 2020 was a horrendous year and we wanted our supporters to have something with no need of financial reward when many of them may be struggling themselves. Both Mr Fantastic and Coherent work full time outside of music and during the various lockdowns have thankfully been able to continue working while many friends lost all or part of their income. Therefore we would like to offer this release as a free download in perpetuity so that those who are struggling at any time in future can at least have some completely free new music in your preferred format.
